Year 12 Skills Day

Year 12 students participated a wide range of activities in a very successful 6th Form Skills Day on Tuesday, aimed at developing their broader skills of teamwork, communication and co-operation.

Activities included a bridge-building activity with the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) in which students had to work together to construct a suspension bridge capable of supporting their own weight, guided by professional engineers.

In other sessions, students developed some impressive Zumba Skills, learned some useful Self Defence techniques and tapped into their creative skills with some very imaginative ‘finger portraits’.

A Skills Challenge session gave students more opportunities to develop their teamwork and communication skills through a variety of activities.

Feedback from both students and session providers was universally positive and should also allow students to demonstrate evidence of their broader skills in university and employment applications.  Well done to all involved!
