Y10 pupils were supported with their Enterprise and Employability Challenge by local business people; Tina Owen, Director of Tina Owen Financial Planning, partner practice of St James’s Place; Mel Lawton, owner of Melanie Lawton Social Media Management and Ruth Lloyd- Williams, Founder and Director of Network She.

Pupils were given the opportunity to present their innovative idea to the panel in “Dragon’s Den” scenario. They were then asked questions and given feedback on their idea. Pupils were very receptive and engaged with the panel in a positive and confident manner which allowed them to partake in some incredibly constructive discussion.

Feedback from the panel was extremely positive and encouraging: “The group came across as being very much a team, with each of them in a role that reflected their strengths. They had an original idea that tied in nicely with the aims and objectives of the Welsh Mountain Zoo and the Silk Road charity. Great use of technology and social media.

Students participated in a range of activities designed to take them out of their comfort zone and to help them develop vital key skills such as teamwork, communication and well-being.

Activities included a Bridge building activity with the Institute of Civil Engineers, an outdoor skills challenge, self-defence, meditation and Zumba.

The day culminated with the ever-popular whole year group Zumba dance off.

A great time was had by all.

Thanks go to all the staff who provided the activities on the day, our friends at the Institute of Civil Engineers and to Aaron Bradley Bevan for providing the Zumba activity.
