6th form students welcomed our new Year 7 students into Ysgol Eirias with our annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic, organised by the senior prefect team.  This event runs every year and is a fun way for Year 7 students to get to know some of the older students in the school.

Yn dilyn achos mawr o’r Frech Goch yn Ewrop, ac achos llai yng Nghasnewydd a Thorfaen, rydym yn codi ymwybyddiaeth ar frys  o bwysigrwydd brechu yn erbyn y frech goch ymysg pobl ifanc.  Mae hi’n bwysig bod staff, myfyrwyr a phlant sy’n dychwelyd i’r ysgol ar ôl gwyliau’r haf wedi cael y ddau ddos o’r brechiad MMR.

Following a large outbreak of Measles in Europe, and a smaller local outbreak in Newport and Torfaen, we are urgently raising awareness of the importance of vaccination against measles in young people.  It is important that staff, students and children returning to school after the summer break are up to date with two doses of MMR vaccine.

Over a year ago Outlook Expeditions came into Ysgol Eirias and worked with the pupils in creating their perfect adventure. Over the following months the pupils worked as a team fundraising for this expedition in a variety of ways in the local community.

Ysgol Eirias, in Colwyn Bay, has again been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.
