Ten Eirias students recently undertook training to become Wellbeing Ambassadors. Multiagency training took place in topics such as sexual health and consent, domestic violence, substances misuse, healthy relationships, mental health and wellbeing, LBGTQ issues, prevent and tolerance, anti-bullying and respect, breakaway techniques and antisocial and criminal behaviours. The role of the Wellbeing Advisors is to pass on information to other pupils, raise awareness, highlight key information and signpost as to where further information and support is available.
The Wellbeing Ambassadors will introduce themselves through Assemblies after Christmas.
Holly summed up the feelings of those trained: “The wellbeing event gave us a huge insight into many problems and issues that young people face. We were also told how we can help by giving support and advice that could be offered. It was a very inspirational event, meeting the people who are helping people in a range of issues. It definitely gave us as Wellbeing Ambassadors the ability to know how to approach these situations and guide others to safety in their times of need.”
