Year 13 Student Abby Matthews has been selected for an all-expenses paid work-shadowing week in Germany in October 2020.
She applied at the start of April and found out recently that she has been selected!
Her language teachers are delighted for her.
The UK-wide search for participants in the programme is organised by the Goethe Institut in London and Abby was selected from an unprecedented number of applicants.
As part of her successful application Abby had to write a short text in German answering the question: “Why would a work-shadowing week in a German company be useful to you?”
Abby’s success gives her the opportunity to join a team in a small or medium-sized company in the town of Schwäbisch Hall, in South West Germany.
She will spend a week using her language skills while taking part in the company’s daily operations. She will go to the work placement at the host company in the mornings, and in the afternoons, Abby will take part in a cultural programme to discover the local surroundings and dive into German culture.
The visit is sponsored by the Friends of the Goethe-Institut London who generously support the flights, work placement, accommodation and the cultural programme in Germany.
We wish Abby all the best in Germany and are looking forward to hearing all about it on her return.
Well done Abby!
