Mrs Butler is among the winners of the Personal Finance Teacher of the Year Awards 2021.
Mrs Butler, a mathematics teacher at Ysgol Eirias, has been awarded the award in the best secondary school teacher category for the award, which recognises staff who work to embed financial know-how among their pupils.
Mrs Butler caught the attention of the judges with a "money personality quiz"; which the judges said was impressive as it gave pupils access to difficult ideas in finance by exploring them in practical settings.
Using her background in financial services, Mrs Butler delivers lessons that explore and challenge attitudes on money matters.
The judges also praised Mrs Butler's use of school trips to local banks and a Women Mean Business Conference for sixth form female pupils.
Ysgol Eirias will receive a cash prize of £5,000 following the award.
Judges on the panel included Dominic Vallier, of the London Institute of Banking and Finance; Russell Winnard, Director of programmes and services for Young Enterprise; and Jeff Prestridge, personal finance editor at the Mail on Sunday.
Richard Wilson, CEO of Interactive Investor, which organised the awards, said: “We have much admiration for teachers, whose hard work and inspiration makes a difference every single day.
“Financial education from a young age is so important – to help forge a healthy relationship with money from the beginning. Congratulations to all our winners.”
