Exam Success Continues at Ysgol Eirias!

Following the excellent results last week for sixth form students, GCSE students at Ysgol Eirias have once again followed in the celebrations of outstanding results!

It is with great pride that I leave the school with such positive results!
Sarah Sutton, Headteacher

All subject areas of the school have again sustained high performance in their A*- C pass rate, despite the backdrop of post Covid recovery and alterations to specifications.

Our A and A* results were particularly impressive with many subject areas gaining over 40% A/A* including History, French, Music, RS, PE, Graphics, Health and Social Care and Welsh. It was extremely pleasing to note that Finance, German and Art gained over 60% A*/A.

Ysgol Eirias is very proud of its curriculum: students can access a significant range of subjects that meet a variety of interests and needs.

The school is particularly proud to note that a significant number of students have achieved success despite challenging personal circumstances or significant learning difficulties over the last couple of years and is very grateful to the supportive pastoral system and the significant Additional Needs support offered.

Many subjects have excelled this year, in particular subjects within Technology, Humanities, Business Studies, Science and Maths - where nearly a quarter of all Year 11 students gained A or A* in Maths and Science. Practical subject areas have excelled this year, where Music and PE continue to thrive with outstanding results, and Art, Textiles, Food Tech and Engineering students all collected excellent results.

Despite the national picture, the school’s dedication to International Languages has been rewarded where French and German students have yielded excellent results. We are proud of the results gained by students following vocational courses, particularly our Construction course.

All subject areas across school have reached high standards which will enable our students to access the courses they need to continue their journey - whether that be continuing in education or moving into the world of work. Of particular note is the success of the Skills Challenge Certificate where a very high number of students passed the course at a high level.

Many students gained outstanding results, scooping high numbers of the top grades.

  • Owain Allpress,
  • Freya Bakewell,
  • Kai Burke,
  • Harry Buttle,
  • Rhys Buttle,
