Year 11 experience local history in Llanberis

Our Year 11 students enjoyed some 'hands-on History' in Llanberis this week in their visit to the National Slate Museum in Llanberis.

Students experienced a bespoke session with the education officer, Lowri, to find out more about the causes and impact of the Bethesda strike of 1900-1903.

They also had chance to explore some authentic quarry houses, a Caban, the Chief Engineer's house and the Quarry hospital in Padarn Park.

The trip was designed to support students with their non examined assessment (coursework) which covers life for quarrymen and their families and different interpretations of the Bethesda strike.
