Year 13 scientists attended the International Nannoplankton conference at the St George’s Hotel in Llandudno.
It was hosted by Petrostrat, Conwy. There were 120 scientists from all around the world attending, some who research st Universities and some work for geological companies
The year 13 scientists had an excellent trip to the conference. We were given short talks on research across the world including Prof. Paul Bown from UCL, Jelena Godrijan from Croatia, Andrea Pardon from Conwy and Frederico Malavolta from Milan. The topics included coccolith fossils, cocclithophore algae, biostratgraphy used for aging and identifying specimens and Peru desert whale and shark fossils. They then had a hands-on session with microscopes and artifacts. The scientists chatted to the students about they careers choices and all left with a fabulous goody bag.
