Year 8 at Zip World, Bounce Below

By Dylan Bourne and Jack Clubb

It all started after we got off our bus, as soon as we jumped through the doors we were struck with a view of beautiful mountains and deep dark slate mines. This excited everybody and drew us into the caves. We started the experience by slowly descending a flight of stony steps and occasionally we would stop and get educated by our instructor, it was the perfect mix of thrills and education, so it kept us all engaged throughout the experience.

Before long we were walking along the bottom of the cave where we came across our first light projected animation. It showed an old miner talking about his life in the mines. We continued and found out more about this man and his friends from more interesting animations. By the time we watched the final animation we came across a massive lake beneath the cave roof. It was stunning, the water was crystal blue. And before long another projection appeared, this time it was on the water and left everybody breathless.

We all had a brilliant time at Bounce Below. The underground nets were a huge amount of fun, as they were filled with hidden passages and brilliantly atmospheric lighting. The nets are fun and springy, making them great to bounce around on. I think slides were an excellent way to navigate floors, and the mats provided let you decide if you want to go faster or have a more relaxed slide journey. The whole experience is brilliant, and it’s even better to be there with friends.

After the bounce below nets, we had the underground golf, which was amazingly fun and easy to understand, and it was nice to do a more relaxed activity after leaping around on the nets for an hour. However, even if the golf was less physically challenging than the bounce below, the competitiveness made it just as fun and exhilarating and it was nice to have some kind of winner at the end (I came second). I also enjoyed the fact that zip world prefers going down slides than stairs, as the golf course ends on the top floor of the cave, with a huge and fun slide being the main way to get down.

After all the fun and games (and educational information) we rose back to ground level and discussed the experience over a nice, packed lunch.
