Dear Parent/Carer

We hope that your son/daughter has now settled into life at Ysgol Eirias.

Last year we launched our Home School Communication Portal “TALAXY”. This is a web-based application that can be used by Teachers, Parents and Students alike. TALAXY allows you as a parent to see live updates of your child’s progress in school, take part in virtual parent's evenings, receive academic reports and email and text notifications.

As a parent/carer of a Year 7 Learner, you may not have had access to TALAXY before, Parents with older siblings will already be used to this application as part of the Parent Evenings that were held last year.

As we start a new academic year, we are relaunching TALAXY with all its features and we would like you as a parent to be registered for TALAXY and secondly, ensure your child has registered too.

You can watch this user guide with your child to help you to register, or if you have forgotten your details log back in.

TALAXY is a valuable tool for your child as it allows them to view their live timetable look at their achievements, general conduct, attendance, and reports. with homework and events rather than using a traditional paper planner.

To access TALAXY as a parent you do need to have an email address registered on our school systems.

If you have not had an email communication from the school before and specifically, in the last few days, it is possible we do not hold a current email for you.

Please can you check directly with school that your personal email is on our system by calling school on 01492 532025 and give your email address to the receptionist for checking.

Your children only require their HwB Email which is already on our systems and they have been provided with this at the start of the year.

Our first virtual event via TALAXY is fast approaching. The Year 7 Parent and Tutor Evening will be held on the 12th October and be via our TALAXY Parents Evening Module.

It is therefore important, as a Year 7 parent/carer that you register in plenty of time to be able to make a booking from the 2nd October. A tutorial on how to book an appointment will be available shortly.

To keep our systems up to date you may also be aware that we invited TEMPEST into school in the first week to take photographs of every child in the school. We felt this a key step to “Build Back” Ysgol Eiria.

A sample will be sent home in the next few days with your child giving you the opportunity to buy a school portrait directly from TEMPEST. The images will also be available on TALAXY for you to view.
