SSCE
Supporting Service Children in Education

Ysgol Eirias is proud to have been supporting service children in education since September 2023.

Set up under the guidance of SSCE Cymru whose mission is to research and compile evidence on the experiences of service children during education to ensure their needs are understood.

During their journey here at Ysgol Eirias, each service child can meet with our Service Children Support Coordinator where they are given the opportunity to share experiences and feedback at our drop-in facility. Here we can get creative with our display, organize trips for events and celebrate special occasions like Remembrance Day, Purple up Day and month of the military child.

We work closely with our feeder primary schools too. Meeting with the service children there and setting up a transition plan to ensure a smooth introduction to secondary school.

The following document outlines how we at Eirias demonstrate our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant:

In April 2024, Ysgol Eirias successfully achieved Armed Forces Friendly Schools Cymru BRONZE status.

If you have any questions about the support offered for service children at Eirias, please contact our Service Child Support Coordinator, Emma Willams, at:
