Year 6 non feeder welcome

Dear parents

Welcome to our Eirias family! As part of the process of helping your child to make a happy and seamless transition to Ysgol Eirias, we take this opportunity to invite your child to the following transition events.

Welcome Afternoon: Friday 13th May 2022

This session has been designed specifically for pupils joining us from a non-feeder primary school. The aim of this session is to introduce your child to the school environment, to give them a real experience of what it is like to attend Ysgol Eirias and to provide them with the opportunity to make some friends before they join us in September, helping to reduce any anxiety about their move to secondary school.

Please bring your child to the Ysgol Eirias main reception for 12:30pm, where they will be welcomed by members of our Year 7 team. Please return to collect your child from the main reception at 2:50pm.

Transition Week: Monday 27th June – Thursday 30th June

The Year 7 Transition Week is a four-day programme, designed for all pupils joining us in September, to help them feel supported and ready to start their learning journey at Ysgol Eirias. The programme combines a variety of activities ranging from arriving at school, to having lunch, to finding the toilets, to learning and meeting teachers. Time has also been built in for your child to bond with the other children who will be in their form class in September and time to get to know their form tutor.

The Year 7 Team will be on the MUGA at the front of Eirias at 9am on Monday 27^th June to welcome your child on their first day of their transition week. The team will then escort your child to the school hall for a whole year group welcome before spending the day with their new form tutors and classmates. Lunch can be purchased from the school restaurant, or a packed lunch can be brought into school. Further details regarding this event will be shared during the Welcome Afternoon.
