Celebrations Continue at Ysgol Eirias!

Following the success of the results last week for A Level students, GCSE students at Ysgol Eirias are also celebrating excellent results!

1

We are proud of the successes of all our students and celebrate with them. Successes for students are noted in all subject areas: of particular note is the high achievement of Finance and Textiles where all students secured a grade C and above.

Other particular successes were seen in subject areas such as Art, French, German, PE, Engineering and Music where over 80% of students gained grade C and above and it is noteworthy that in Music and German over 80% of the students achieved A* - B. This is against a declining national profile for these subject areas.

2

Ysgol Eirias is very proud of the curriculum offered where students are accessing a wide range of subjects that meet a variety of interests and needs. A number of students have achieved success despite challenging personal circumstances or significant learning difficulties over the last couple of years due to the caring pastoral system and the Additional Needs support offered, as recognised in our Estyn report.

All subject areas across school have reached the high standards required to enable students to access the routes they need to continue their journey whether that be continuing in education or moving into the world of work. Of particular note is the success of the Welsh Baccalaureate where over 70% of the cohort entered gained grade C or above.

Students will be taking a range of routes following their GCSE successes and we look forward to many of them returning to our popular Sixth Form to continue their educational journey.

Headteacher, Mrs Zoe Evans commented: “It is with great pride that I lead the school with such a positive result following my first year in post. In an increasingly difficult context, it is a pleasure to be able to work with students and staff of such high calibre, who continue to work hard in the face of adversity and challenge. The resilience of these young people has been the backbone of their success. The learners are at the heart of all that we do and their results are clear evidence of our collective dedication as a school.”
