Eirias Year 9 and 10 pupils embark on Bronze and Silver awards

Pupils from Year 9 took part in their practice run for the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award recently, and Year 10 pupils went for their 2 day practice for the Silver award. All the groups involved faced various challenges and developed the strength of character required to operate in outdoor environments. It was certainly difficult at times and a challenge to the comfort zones of pupils; they all worked together in small groups and collaborated to achieve their individual goals.

The Duke of Edinburgh awards are designed to give young people the tools that they need to thrive in the modern world. Each award requires pupils to dedicate a portion of their time to Volunteering, developing a skill, improving levels of physical fitness, and embarking on overnight expeditions.
