Mr Hawkins, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Coordinator at Ysgol Eirias, was recently invited to attend a special Buckingham Palace Garden Party celebrating the 70th anniversary of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the UK.

Over the past four years, Mr Hawkins has led the DofE programme at Ysgol Eirias, with more than 250 students completing their Bronze Award, many of whom have continued on to achieve Silver and work towards Gold.

The event brought together DofE leaders and participants from across the UK to celebrate the impact of the award and hear inspiring stories of achievement and personal development.

Reflecting on the experience, Mr Hawkins said:

“It was a real honour to be invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate 70 years of DofE. It was inspiring to hear stories from other leaders and young people about the positive impact the award continues to have. I am incredibly proud of what our students at Ysgol Eirias have achieved through DofE.”

Mr Hawkins also thanked the staff who generously give up their own time to support the programme and the parents who continue to encourage and support their children in taking part in this fantastic award.

We are incredibly proud of all our students who have taken part in DofE and look forward to seeing many more continue their journey in the years ahead.
