A Level Students celebrating their results A Level Students celebrating their results

A Level students at Ysgol Eirias continue to exceed previous results in many areas.

Outstanding results include the best ever results at A*/A and A*-B. The percentage of A*s awarded have nearly doubled from last year’s award.

Students enjoyed exceptional results in many subject areas including Chemistry, Maths, Fine Art, History and English Literature. All of the language subjects performed extremely well: Welsh, French and German all working at high levels of A* - B. Of particular note this year was the highest A*-B rate in many years for Economics where all students gained A* - B, vastly exceeding national averages.

Outstanding performances were also achieved in our Vocational courses including Health, Sport and ICT with all students gaining merits or above.

Students were delighted with their results. All students have secured places to allow them to pursue their futures in areas of interest.

Of notable achievement is Dylan Mellor achieving 3A*s, A and D;

Cara Davies and Kezia Holmes achieving 2A*s and 2 As;

Danielle Yu achieving 2A*s, A;

Charlotte Parker 2A*s, 3Bs;

Nye Michael achieving 2A*s, ABC.

All of the following students achieved an outstanding 1A* and 3As: Olivia Clarke, Daisy Coombs, Lucy Frankom, Elain Jones, Sara Millband, Lauren Jones, Finlay Owen, Gokul Raj Krishna and Faye Thompson whilst Elyssia Hughes, Amelia Maddox, and Jake Tapping achieved a mix of A*, A and B grades and Catrin Williams achieved 3As and a Distinction;. A laudable array of results was achieved across the board and many of the success include students who had joined Ysgol Eirias at the start of their A Level studies in Year 12.

Of particular mention is Sara Millband who was successful in securing a place studying medicine in Sheffield where she can continue her involvement in Wheelchair Basketball.

Also studying medicine are Olivia Clarke and Gokul Raj Krishna. Gokul himself only joined Eirias in Year 10 from India and rose to the accolade of Head Boy. 2 of our students have secured places in Oxbridge: Daisy Coombs and Nye Michael, whilst others have chosen very different paths.

Alex Harpum will be studying Music at the Guildhall, Head Girl Lauren Tansley will be in the limelight studying Drama whilst Olivia Ward and Sophie Wilson will be following sports careers in skiing and equestrianism, respectively.

Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Sutton, said: "We continue to be amazed by the outstanding achievements of our dedicated students and we celebrate this year’s unprecedented results. For my first year of Headteacher at Ysgol Eirias I cannot be more proud. They deserve their success and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and parents who have fully supported them along the way."
