At Ysgol Eirias we use a program called KiVa. Kiva is an acronym for Kiusaamista Vasteen, which is Finnish for anti-bullying. Kiva forms a big part of the school's pastoral programme.
KiVa is a program that has been developed in the University of Turku, Finland, with funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture. KiVa offers a wide range of concrete tools and materials for schools to nurture integrity, responsibility and kindness in our children.
The goal of KiVa is to prevent bullying and to tackle the cases of bullying effectively. The program is based on decades of extensive research of bullying and its mechanisms. KiVa is based on three main elements: prevention, intervention and monitoring.
KiVa is a system that is used within Conwy primary schools to encourage thoughtfulness and respect for others. The work carried out in Primary schools is an important aspect of ensuring learners develop key personal and inter-personal skills across the 3-16 curriculum.
Parents’ Guide
Parents’ Guide is part of the KiVa antibullying program, a research-based tool to prevent and reduce bullying problems.
The Guide offers information about bullying; what is known from current research and what can be done at home and at school. Cooperation between home and school is important in addressing bullying.
KiVa says – let’s do it together!
