Prevention at Ysgol Eirias
The most important aspect of the KiVa programme is reducing the number of bullying incidents within schools through educating young people.
At Ysgol Eirias we believe that working closely with our primary cluster to deliver aspects of Kiva as early as possible is key. Every year, our Kiva Team and learners visit our cluster schools to deliver Kiva workshops. As we welcome Year 7 learners in September, we deliver Kiva Unit 2 within our Health and Wellbeing lessons which supports in breaking down barriers, building relationships and providing our learners with an opportunity to understand what bullying is, the impact it has and how to seek support if necessary.
In addition, we have an Anti-Bullying Week, carry out whole school assemblies and invite guest speakers to promote awareness and understanding surrounding bullying. Kiva Unit 3 is built into our Digital Technology and English lessons in Year 9 to build upon the learning that has taken place prior in an interactive and creative way.
